Baptism Day

Yesterday our church held a baptism and membership service. In our denomination, when someone wants to become a member of the church they first need to share their testimony in front of the church. If they have never been baptized by full immersion, they need to also be baptized. It is always a special service and those in attendance are blessed by the sharing of how God has moved in people's lives.
This was a special day for our family for another reason and that is my husband was also baptized.  He is 54 years old and a new believer in Jesus Christ. As he shared his testimony I was in awe of how the Lord gave him just the right words to say. This is a man that has fought the gospel tooth and nail since I accepted Christ 20 years ago.  I was not always the best example of a loving Christian wife (you can read my testimony posted a few posts back) and that was one of the factors that led to the death of our marriage over three years ago.  This same man stood before his brothers and sisters in the Lord yesterday and declared that the only explanation for the reconciliation of our marriage was the Lord Himself. My husband was not looking for reconciliation. It was the furthest thing from his mind when he moved out of our home.  But the Lord had other plans.  He transformed both of our hearts and drew us back together and ultimately He brought my husband to Himself.
I loved how my husband gave God all the glory in his testimony.  He didn't site any one factor or person but that God orchestrated many people and situations to eventually open his eyes.
He also urged people to never give up praying for their lost friends or family and that results may not come as quickly as we want but it is the Lord's timing, for him this was 20 years of prayer.

"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9
